Hey drone fanatics, buckle up! I'm about to trade in my solo pilot's seat for a whole new adventure at Wing (that's Google's drone delivery crew, in case you haven't heard) via Nelson Connects. Yep, this self-taught drone enthusiast is officially a UAV Flight Operator, and lemme tell you, I'm buzzing with excitement (pun intended)!
For years, I've been flying solo, building my drone business, Turtle Drones, brick by virtual brick. From capturing jaw-dropping race footage to meticulously mapping construction sites, drones have been my passion project, my livelihood, and my ticket to some pretty epic views. But let's be honest, it's been a solo journey, often glued to a computer screen dreaming of the bigger picture.
Well, folks, that dream just took flight most unexpectedly. I'm trading the digital dashboard for actual pastures (complete with resident moo-crew) as a member of a team performing edge case testing. That's right, I'll be putting their autonomous delivery systems through their paces, pushing the boundaries of what these aerial marvels can do, all while surrounded by nature's finest four-legged (and probably confused) spectators.
This gig isn't just about testing fancy tech (though that's undeniably cool); it's about diving headfirst into the future of autonomous flight. I'll be soaking up knowledge like a sponge, learning from industry experts, and getting down and dirty with the nitty-gritty of these complex systems. Think of me as a drone whisperer, unlocking their secrets and pushing them to reach new heights (pun intended, again!).
Of course, trading solopreneurship for a corporate structure comes with its own set of challenges. Gone are the days of rolling out of bed at noon and setting my deadlines. This is a 40-hour-a-week, commute-driven gig, meaning less time in the skies for Turtle Drones. But guess what? I'm ready for the juggling act. I've built systems, delegated tasks, and most importantly, prepped my amazing kids to become my mini-drone-crew-cheerleaders at the races (safety goggles and earplugs included, naturally)
.
This job isn't just about a paycheck; it's about an investment in my future and the future of Turtle Drones. Every lesson learned, every connection made, is a shot of adrenaline for my own business. Imagine the insights I'll glean from working with some of the brightest minds in the industry! It's like an endless buffet of drone knowledge, and I'm bringing my plate.
So, am I nervous? Heck yeah! But mostly, I'm freaking excited. This is a chance to soar alongside giants, to be a part of something bigger than myself, and to learn from the best. It's a chance to take everything I've learned as a solo pilot and amplify it on a whole new level.
So, here's to the cows, the code, and the endless possibilities of autonomous flight. Buckle up, world, because this pilot's ready to take your packages (and my drone business) to new heights!
P.S. Don't worry, Turtle Drones isn't going anywhere. I'll still be capturing those race day thrills and crafting content while juggling my new responsibilities. It's gonna be a busy ride, but hey, that's just how we drone pilots like it, right? Wish me luck, and keep your eyes peeled for some seriously epic drone adventures, both on the ground and in the sky!
P.P.S. Did I mention there are cows?
Good job! Wish you all the best!
I am so excited for you Turtle!! And I loveee cows! So you should do more photos with cows! Lol
